With reference to the Foreign Office telegram No.1 of the 20th instant relative to the case of Yeap Seng Koon, I am directed by Mr. Secretary Ramsay MacDonald to transmit to you copies of letters received from the person named concerning his national statua.
2. I am at the same time to transmit, for your information, a copy of correspondence which took place last year with His Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires at Tokio relative to the status of the descendants of Yeap Thean Lye, born at Penang, who appears to have been the father of
the applicant.

The Secretary of State would be glad to receive a report from you in the circumstances shown in the letters from Yeap Seng Koon, who is in the meantime being informed that the matter has been referred to you for such report.
A copy of the correspondence is being sent to
His Majesty's Minister at Peking.
